One Keyword Changed How I Named the Tool

“Pickleball game” showed about 3,000 monthly searches; our clever internal “pickleball IQ” label showed almost none.

A Pickleball Hub interactive tool built around a player question.
The experience can keep its personality while the page title speaks the searcher’s language.

We built a shot-selection quiz that felt like a mini-game. Internally, “pickleball IQ” described it perfectly.

Searchers did not care.

Our research showed roughly 3,000 monthly searches for “pickleball game.” “Pickleball quiz” and “pickleball IQ” had almost no direct demand.

The feature was fine. The label was wrong.

I now separate the fun product name from the search-facing page name. The interface can measure Pickleball IQ. The title can call it a pickleball game.

Steal this

  1. Write five boring ways a stranger would describe your tool.
  2. Compare those phrases before naming the page.
  3. Keep the clever brand name inside the experience.

Customers do not owe us our category language.
