I Removed the Email Gate From the Quiz
The Start Here quiz now gives the useful recommendation first and asks for the email after value is delivered.
CAPW’s Start Here quiz exists to answer one urgent question: “Which website guide should I follow?”
On this page, the most important action is not joining our email list. It is reaching the guide that helps the beginner build the right kind of website. The email signup is useful, but it is the second step.
If we demanded an email before showing the guide, we might collect more addresses in the short term. We would also make the quiz less trustworthy: the visitor did the work, but we withheld the answer we promised.
I made the recommendation the reward
The quiz asks three routing questions and immediately sends the visitor to the right free guide. After we deliver that value, we can offer a checklist or follow-up lessons by email. Now the email extends the answer instead of unlocking it.

- Name the primary job of your quiz.
- Deliver that result before asking for contact information.
- Make the opt-in extend the result with a checklist, sequence, or next lesson.
A smaller list of people who received real help is more valuable than a larger list of people who felt forced to subscribe.
