The Free Tool That Reached #5 in Three Months
Pickleball Hub’s rating calculator reached #5 in roughly three months because it completed a job articles only described.
Pickleball Hub could have published another article explaining player ratings. I pushed for the calculator first.
Why? Because the searcher’s real question was not “How does DUPR work?” It was “What level am I?”
The tool completed the job
We made the calculator useful on its own, built an embeddable version for other publishers, and placed it inside articles where players were already thinking about skill level.
Within roughly three months, it reached #5. That happened before every little SEO detail was perfect.
The lesson for me was simple: word count is not a moat. Completing the job is.

- Turn the answer into a calculator, score, template, or diagnostic.
- Make it easy for relevant sites to embed or cite.
If the article explains the problem, the tool should help someone finish it.
